Acne and food

There are a lot of rumors about acne out there. Many people think greasy food and chocolate cause acne breakouts. That isn’t true! There is also talk about a low glycemic diet possibly helping acne. That’s for another post!
Today I want to talk about dairy. Cows today are engineered in a way to keep them pregnant while making milk. So that milk is chock full of cow hormones that you are then ingesting into your body. The main source of these hormones in milk is the whey component. So whey protein can also be a trigger. Some people may notice improvement in their acne when they stop drinking cows milk. Others may not. Either way, do you really want to drink all those hormones???
I recommend a switch to almond milk immediately. Almond breeze is my favorite brand!!
For alternative protein shake sources, just go online!

Skin Cancer

Did you know that skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States? Over 3.5 million skin cancers are diagnosed annually. If you have a spot on your body that is changing, growing, bleeding, itching, or otherwise worrying you, please go get it checked.
Free skin screenings are going on all around you. There are resources to help you find one at http://www.aad.org/spot-skin-cancer/what-we-do/free-skin-cancer-screenings.
Melanoma is an especially dangerous type of skin cancer. If someone in your immediate family has had a melanoma, it puts you at twice the risk of the general population of getting a melanoma yourself. Melanoma is easily curable when caught early, but can be devastating if left to grow. Please take your family to get a skin cancer screening exam!!! LA Plastic Surgery and Dermatology is offering free screenings until the end of September. If you would like to schedule please visit our site at http://www.MySkinsDoc.com or call us at 941-954-4500!
